WHO ARE WE

The St. Clair County Genealogy & History Society is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization established in 1978, as St. Clair County Family History Group, Inc. St. Clair County is located in the “Thumb” of Southeast Michigan. Our goal is to encourage and assist not only St. Clair County Residents, but others in the study of their genealogy, as well as preserving and promoting the rich historical importance of the region.

will share with members his journey to reclaim & preserve Sanilac County’s
Omard Cemetery (established in 1875). He was able to transform vastly different data into a sustainable soluon so that Omard
Cemetery’s informaon would become accessible to everyone, including the implementaon of a QR Code.

“What I’ve Learned as a Professional Genealogist.” 
 
Presented by Presented by SCCGHS member Fred Fuller, 

Fred was the Mayor of Yale for 3 years, St. Clair County Drain Commissioner for 12 years, and then worked for an engineering firm. He also has co-founded several environmental groups and worked for the Michigan Nature Association. He’s a graduate of Albion College, majoring in English Literature. 

When he was laid off from the engineering firm during the COVID pandemic in 2020, he decided to switch careers and do something he really loved, involving history and genealogy. He took an online course from Boston University in genealogical research and then started his own business, Huron Genealogical Services.

 

He promises to share some good tips for research and some cool stories!

On a guided tour, as local reenactors highlight notable historic residents of St. Clair’s past. Made possible with the support of St. Clair Historical Museum and the City of St. Clair.

Join the St. Clair County Genealogy & History Society and the City of Port Huron Parks and Rec Department for a guided tour of the final resting places of some of Port Huron’s most prominent citizens. This tour will be led by the late Marcia Hayne’s prodigies. The tour is free and is open to all ages! Registration is recommended but not required. Donation will be accepted for Mid-City Nutrition.
