HOW WE CONTRIBUTE TO THE COUNTY

St. Clair County Genealogy & History Society strives to inform and engage the community in the study of family history, to enrich their understanding of themselves and their heritage. We also aspire to strengthen the region by encouraging a long-term interest in local history and preservation. We achieve this thru member and public programing and activities, focused on genealogical education and resources, and local history topics. Contact us if you have any ideas about, or want us to participate in any events or proceedings that could help educate the community about genealogy or the history of St. Clair County,

BLUE WATER AREA FALLEN HEROES COMMUNITY BANNER PROGRAM

Copied from St Clair County Community Foundation Website

St. Clair County has over 580 service members who died in service to their country from World War I to the current gulf war conflict. The community banners will feature the fallen heroes’ photograph, rank, name, branch of service, war conflict, age, and city in which they resided.  These beautiful, patriotic banners will be displayed one week prior to and one week after Memorial Day each year.

The concept for the Banner Program initially came from Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; small farming community has banners honoring the memory of fallen or missing-in-action service members which are mounted on light poles in downtown Waynesboro during the weeks surrounding Memorial Day.
