Program Meetings: Programs are held on the fourth Thursday of the month, except for November which is held on the 3rd Thursday of the month due to the holiday. No program meetings in July, August or December. All programs start at 7:00pm and are held at location TBA. These programs focus on local history, and genealogy education and support. Everyone is welcome.
Board of Director’s Meetings: Board meetings are held before the Program Meetings Thursday at 6:00 p.m., at location TBA. These meetings are open to all members and we encourage everyone to attend and express their ideas or concerns.
Fields Trips: Field trips and other special outings are scheduled during the months of July, August and December, with the destination and time TBA. Additional events may be arranged according to the interests of the Society.
Workshops: Workshops and/or other special programs specific to genealogical education or for accomplishing projects that the Society has undertaken may be scheduled throughout the year.

History of the ethnic Germans who responded to the invitation of Catherine the Great to settle and live along the Volga River in the region of southeastern Russia They were promised religious freedom, exemption from military service, and free land , but eventually these rights eroded. So, after the destruction of the village of Kind many of these Volga Germans migrated to Michigan’s Thumb.

“HOW to USE DNA RESULTS in YOUR RESEARCH”

Tim Weeder will review the basics of DNA and how to use your DNA results in your research. His presentation will center around AncestryDNA and explain its new Pro Tools. If you’ve ever wondered how to use Match and Shared Matches features to break through your brick walls, discover an adoptee’s family of origin, or validate certain branches of your family tree then this presentation is for you.

Museum Strathroy-Caradoc has in its collection items that may help you in your family research if your ancestor spent any time in this region or in Canada.
